Headteachers praised for Teaching Awards success
The Leader of Denbighshire, Councillor Hugh Evans has congratulated two of the county’s headteachers for making it through to the final of the prestigious Teaching Awards 2009 where they were both awarded distinctions.
Alison Duffy, headteacher of Ysgol Dinas Bran, Llangollen was shorlisted in the Headteacher of the Year category whilst Louisa Brazier, headteacher of Ysgol y Parc, Denbigh made the final in the Teacher of the Year category. The awards ceremony took place in Cardiff yesterday (Tuesday).
Both headteachers were nominated by their schools and judges visited both locations to talk to the nominees, staff, pupils and governors prior to the awards ceremony.
Councillor Evans, who is also the Cabinet Lead Member for Lifelong Learning, said: “I am delighted that both Alison and Louisa made it through to the final.
“Both Alison and Louisa are a real credit to their schools, the Council and the teaching profession. Making it through to the final is a real testament of their commitment, professionalism and dedication and they should be truly proud of themselves.
“I look forward to meeting both Alison and Louisa to personally thank and congratulate them on their tremendous achievement.”
